My name is Jennifer Thompson, and this September I'll start high school. But I'm not nervous, because I spent two weeks this summer at an adventure camp. There are many kinds of summer camps for American students. There are camps for playing sports, art, nature study, or just making friends.Students stay at schools and camps. They often sleep in tents. Every day there are exciting new things to do and see. My summer camp was called an adventure camp. Instead of playing sports and games, we did group activities. We built a bridge over a small river, learned how to climb high walls, made a campfire, and cooked our own meals. Usually, we were in teams of six. We learned how to work together when we had a problem. I became a team leader. Before this summer, I was a little afraid about starting high school. So many new people! So many classes! After going to adventure camp, though, I feel much more comfortable when meeting new students. High school will be another exciting challenge for me. |
